Hotel Lorelei Londres
Near-monochrome minimalist-luxe with serious historical bones. White walls, blue sea, no clutter. The all-white interiors feel calm rather than cold — the setting does all the work. Romantic and intimate without trying too hard.
Book dinner at Ristorante Lorelei well in advance — the terrace fills fast, especially in peak summer
Why It Matters
One of the very few hotels in Sorrento with a Michelin-starred restaurant on-site — the one-star Lorelei helmed by Chef Ciro Sicignano, who sources vegetables from two private kitchen gardens and has a dedicated olive oil menu. The Roman ruins beneath the building (and the aqueduct in the wine cellar) give it genuine history that most Amalfi properties just fake.
That old 'Albergo Lorelei Londres' sign still tops this red Liberty-style building on Sorrento's cliff edge, but the inside has been completely rebuilt. Renovated in 2019 by the Apuzzo family — Sorrento hoteliers since 1962 — the hotel sits directly on intact ancient Roman ruins, complete with an actual aqueduct visible in the wine cellar below. Nineteen rooms, all white with ocean-blue accents, face the Bay of Naples; the best ones have a private terrace with an outdoor jacuzzi and views straight across to Vesuvius.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The concierge team arranges boat hire, restaurant reservations around Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, transfers to Capri, Pompeii, Naples, and Positano. Several guests note the concierge (Luana is frequently mentioned by name) as exceptional at organizing surprises and special occasion arrangements.
Private beach club at the base of the cliff, accessed by private elevator. Solarium with sunbeds and umbrellas, direct sea swimming access, beach bar and kitchen on-site. Beach towels and staff service included.
The hotel's foundations incorporate intact ancient Roman structures. Dinner guests at the Michelin restaurant get a mid-meal tour of the Roman aqueduct beneath the building as part of the tasting menu experience.
Pre-dinner cocktails on the clifftop terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius. House cocktails by the resident barman. Best at sunset — a ritual for most guests.
