Why It Matters
One of the very few all-suite hotels on Santa Monica's Ocean Avenue with direct Pacific views. LXR positioning means Hilton Honors points apply without the chain-hotel feel. The property has a genuine historic pedigree — originally built in the 1950s — and now features La Monique, a serious modern French brasserie with an OpenTable presence.
A 1950s apartment building turned all-suite luxury hotel on Ocean Avenue, right across from the Santa Monica bluffs and beach. After a $25-30 million renovation, the 70-suite property now sits in Hilton's LXR collection — their ultra-luxury tier — and leans hard into the private-beach-house concept. The ivy-clad mid-century facade hides interiors dressed in velvet sofas, Loro Piana bedding, hand-tufted Nepalese rugs, and original art from LA-based artists. Stan Laurel famously lived here from 1958, entertaining the likes of Jerry Lewis and Dick Van Dyke.
