Hotel Zeppelin is a full-throated tribute to San Francisco's counterculture roots — the beatniks, the rockers, the revolutionaries. Housed in two historic buildings, one dating to 1913 as the former Cecil Hotel and another once home to the San Francisco Press Club, the property leans hard into its past with graffiti art, crushed velvet, vintage turntables, and a basement that used to be a 1920s speakeasy. It sits just west of Union Square, two blocks from a cable car stop, and it's one of the edgier, more genuinely characterful options in a city that often plays it safe.

Junior King Suite
Where things get genuinely good. A separate living room adds real breathing room, and this is where the vintage turntable with in-room vinyl collection shows up. The John Boos workspace is oversized even by suite standards.
KingKing Room
An intimate room built for rebels. Dark, bold colors, custom artwork, and an oversized John Boos workspace make it a cut above the average city hotel room. No turntable in standard rooms, but the vibe is still firmly Zeppelin.
KingKing Suite
A classy 350 sq ft suite with a separate living room and a king bed. Contemporary furnishings lean into the rock 'n' roll aesthetic without going over the top. Includes a vintage turntable.
KingPremier Room
Step up to 250 sq ft with a king or queen bed. Still on the cozy side by American hotel standards, but the mid-century chaise lounge and record-ready atmosphere give it a distinct personality.

Zeppelin Suite (The Zeppelin Apartment)
The flagship. A private rooftop deck, a media room, a wet bar, a fireplace in the living room, and bay windows in the king bedroom. This is the one to book for a big occasion — or if you just want to feel like a rock star who actually made it. The record player comes with a vinyl collection and there's a master bathroom to match the scale.

Bikes available to rent through the front desk — a practical and fun way to cover ground in San Francisco. Particularly useful for Golden Gate Park, the Embarcadero, or the Marina.
A small but well-stocked gym with city views through openable windows. Peloton bike, boxing dummy, free weights, balance balls, cardio machines, and weight machines. Open daily 5am–10pm. Towels, antiseptic wipes, and water bottles provided.
