Regency Tsim Sha Tsui
Urban business hotel with strong local institution credentials. Sleek, contemporary rooms, a buzzy dining scene, and zero resort pretension. The kind of place well-traveled regulars return to every year.
Book a harbour-view room on a high floor — the standard city-view rooms on lower floors are noticeably less impressive
Why It Matters
The successor to Hong Kong's original Hyatt — opened in 1969 as the first Hyatt outside the US — and keeper of the city's beloved dining institutions: Hugo's (European fine dining, tableside cooking since 1969), Chin Chin Bar (whisky and nightly live music), and The Chinese Restaurant (dim sum and Cantonese). All three were deliberately reincarnated here when the hotel reopened in October 2009.
Occupying floors 10–24 of the K11 skyscraper in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, this 381-room Hyatt Regency is part of the same complex as K11 Art Mall and has direct underground access to two MTR stations. Rooms are contemporary and compact (most run 28–31 sq m), but the harbour-view options deliver some genuinely dramatic Victoria Harbour panoramas. It carries real historical weight: this lineage traces back to 1969, when Hyatt Regency Hong Kong opened as the first Hyatt hotel outside the United States.
