Jusandi is five private pool villas perched on a cliff on the northern end of Ishigaki Island — Japan's far southwestern frontier, geographically closer to Taiwan than to Tokyo. Designed by architect Norihiko Dan (whose portfolio runs to office towers and international airports), the property is uncompromisingly minimalist: white walls built from Ryukyu limestone, wall-to-wall windows, and custom tropical wood furniture. The name itself, 'Yusandi,' means 'sunset' in the Yaeyama dialect, and the place lives up to it.

1 Bedroom Villa
Four of these in total, so there are usually a handful of options when booking. The 60㎡ interior is honestly compact for the price — bedroom and living area share one open space, bathroom at the far end. But step outside and you have 200㎡ of private grounds, a 3.5×7m pool, and a gazebo with daybed. Some have a sky terrace; at least one (reportedly 'Gashimune') adds private beach access. White Ryukyu limestone walls, large windows, designer wooden furniture, and Aromatherapy Associates toiletries in the bathroom.

The one and only two-bedroom option at Jusandi — and the property's flagship villa. A central living room connects two full bedrooms, making it work for families or two couples traveling together. At 300㎡ of grounds with 100㎡ of interior, it's noticeably more generous than the one-bedroom options. Located closest to the private beach. Comes with a large working desk if you need to do any actual work. Same private pool dimensions (3.5×7m), same gazebo setup, same high-end amenities.
