Laurel Lake Placid
Mountaineer minimalism — alpine chalet aesthetic with Scandinavian and Japanese influence. Wood-burner in the library, bouclé chairs, full-height windows framing forest views. Cozy without being kitschy.
Grab a seat by the wood-burner in Alpine Hall in winter — the views of Mirror Lake through the full-height windows are worth arriving early for
Why It Matters
One of the few genuinely design-forward hotels in the Adirondacks. Listed on Tablet Hotels and Mr & Mrs Smith, and part of the World of Hyatt loyalty ecosystem. Its Scandinavian-meets-Japanese aesthetic is a genuine departure from the region's standard lodge-and-antler formula.
Laurel Lake Placid is a 90-room boutique hotel sitting right in downtown Lake Placid, a short walk from Mirror Lake and the Olympic legacy sites. The design deliberately bucks the rustic-lodge playbook: think clean lines, pine-wood panelling, earthy textures, and a Scandinavian-meets-Japanese minimalist sensibility. It was renamed from Bluebird Lake Placid in December 2025, though the ownership, staff, and feel stayed the same.
