Mediterraneo Sorrento
Contemporary classic with a lively rooftop edge. Think dressed-up but not stiff: rooftop DJ sets, cliffside pool, vintage family-hotel soul. Local materials throughout — marble, brass, Vesuvian lava stone, Vietri ceramics.
Book a table at Vista Sky Bar for sunset — it's open to non-guests but fills up fast in summer
Why It Matters
Michelin Key-awarded family hotel with a private cliff lift to the beach, the original rooftop bar in Sorrento, and a spa carved into ancient tuff stone foundations. 61 rooms. Built 1912. Operating since 1950.
A 1912 cliff-perched villa turned five-star boutique hotel, the Mediterraneo sits above Sant'Agnello's dramatic drop into the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius sitting squarely on the horizon. Four generations of the Monti-Maresca family run it, and that shows — service is warm without being formal. The 2020 renovation brought contemporary interiors (parquet floors, Deco details, blues and whites that echo the sea below) while leaving the bones of the original building intact. Awarded a Michelin Key in 2024 and welcomed as a Virtuoso and Forbes Travel Guide property in 2026.
