seven x seven Ishigaki opened September 9, 2024 and calls itself the world's first 'self-hospitality' luxury hotel. The idea is simple: full luxury facilities and design, but without staff hovering over you. Check in via QR code, manage everything through an app, and get on with it. The architecture uses Ryukyu limestone and tropical landscaping across four buildings. Not a traditional Okinawan resort — think modern minimalist, with a Latin Italian restaurant, a Finnish sauna designed around a local Shisa statue, an underground gin bar, and an adults-only infinity pool with Pacific views.

The hotel operates its own luxury car rental service (sevenxsevenluxuryrentals.com) with a curated lineup including Range Rover Evoque. Makes the 30-minute drive to Kabira Bay considerably more enjoyable.
Stand-up paddleboard yoga sessions run at both sunrise and sunset, conducted at the hotel's infinity pool and on nearby island beaches. Available from April 1 onwards.
