Silver Lake Pool & Inn
Mexican modernist meets California cool. Think airy, sun-drenched rooms with terrazzo counters, antique rugs, and glazed tile walls that give off a chic 1970s swim club energy. The Boy Scouts-inspired button-ups on front desk staff add a distinctly Wes Anderson touch.
Pool swimming is exclusively for hotel guests — but non-guests can reserve pool-adjacent dining tables at Marco Polo via OpenTable
Why It Matters
Silver Lake's first (and only) hotel. Palisociety proved a formerly motel-only corner of LA's creative Eastside could support a proper boutique property. The design is genuinely distinctive, the restaurant pulls in locals who aren't staying, and 54 rooms makes it feel genuinely intimate.
Palisociety took a truly unremarkable 1980s motel on Santa Monica Blvd and, with Venice Beach design studio Electric Bowery, transformed it into Silver Lake's first and only hotel. The look lands somewhere between Mexican modernism and California-cool: glazed tan-gold tile walls, antique rugs, terrazzo counters, leather lounge chairs, and live plants throughout. No spa, no indoor lobby lounge — but the elevated heated pool deck on the second floor is the heart of the whole operation, and the al fresco Marco Polo Trattoria is already a legitimate neighborhood restaurant.
