The Aster
Bohemian-luxe Californian. Gleaming wood floors, lemon-and-lime paneling, oversized lamps — a nod to Hollywood's golden era without being cheesy about it. Warm, residential feel rather than cold-hotel formal. Designed for creative industry types.
The $40/day membership fee unlocks gym, wellness classes, cinema, recording studio, and events — factor this into your room rate math
Why It Matters
Michelin Key recipient. Rare hybrid model: overnight guests get full private-club access (pool, gym, cinema, events calendar) for a $40 daily fee. Rooftop Lemon Grove restaurant has become a legitimate LA dining destination. Built by Salt Hotels' David Bowd and Kevin O'Shea on the bones of the former Redbury Hotel.
The Aster is a private members' club first and a boutique hotel second — a deliberate choice that shapes everything about staying here. Perched above the famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine, it occupies a 95,000-square-foot, six-floor building where all 35 suites are open to overnight guests who get full access to member spaces for the length of their stay. Think heated courtyard pool, a 36-seat cinema, recording studio, rooftop bar with Hollywood sign views, and a wellness floor with yoga, Pilates, and HIIT classes. It's adults-only, which keeps things calm. The Avalon music venue is next door — earplugs are in the rooms for a reason.
