The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel
Old Hollywood glamour meets polished boutique hotel. Two distinct worlds under one roof: the Tower feels refined and residential; the Cabanas are lively, poolside, and vintage 1950s.
Request a Cabana room if the pool scene is your priority; choose the Tower if you want quieter nights and more desk space
Why It Matters
Site of the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929. Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Marilyn Monroe, and Charlie Chaplin all called it home at various points. The swimming pool features an original David Hockney underwater mural. The hotel is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument (No. 545) and a member of Historic Hotels of America.
The Hollywood Roosevelt has been on Hollywood Boulevard since 1927, and it shows — in the best way. This is where the first Academy Awards took place in 1929, where Clark Gable and Carole Lombard once stayed for five dollars a night, and where Marilyn Monroe spent two early years of her career. A $25 million Yabu Pushelberg renovation restored the place to full glory: Spanish Colonial bones in the Tower, mid-century cabana rooms around a pool with a David Hockney mural painted on the bottom. It's loud, storied, and full of personality — still one of the most distinctive addresses in Los Angeles.
