Why It Matters
Hong Kong's first and flagship member of the Design Hotels network. The Mira Hong Kong sits on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui with a front-row view of Kowloon Park — actual greenery, which is a rarity at this density. Hong Kong's first member of Design Hotels, the property opened as Hotel Miramar in 1948, was renovated in 2009 with interiors by lifestyle designer Colin Cowie, and has been stacking awards ever since. It's a big hotel — 489 rooms across four colour-coded schemes — but the design sensibility keeps it from feeling generic. Rooms come with Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs, Bose sound systems, and a proper pillow menu. Two Michelin-recognized restaurants are on site, and MiraSpa holds the World Spa Awards 'Hong Kong's Best Day Spa' title for five straight years.

WWF-Hong Kong Ecological Expert-led guided walks through Kowloon Park every Saturday morning, 8–9:30am. Binoculars and a high-magnification telescope provided. Park is home to resident species including Red-whiskered Bulbuls, Asian Koels, Oriental Magpie-Robins, and seasonal migratory birds. Groups of 6–10 persons. A donation from each walk supports WWF conservation work. Add-on breakfast buffet at Yamm available (9:30–10:30am).
