Ostuni
Historic palazzo luxury with a contemporary Italian design sensibility — mid-century furniture, warm stone, marble accents, and handcrafted wood. Serious about sustainability (LEED certification in progress). Adult-oriented and unhurried.
Corner suites get views of both the city and the sea simultaneously — worth the upgrade
Why It Matters
The building's feminist history runs deep — originally a Dominican convent, later a tobacco factory employing over 300 women in the early 20th century. The restoration is one of the most architecturally significant hotel openings in southern Italy in years, designed for LEED certification. Michelin-starred dining on-site from day one. And the dual outlook — the White City on one side, ancient olive groves rolling to the Adriatic on the other — is genuinely hard to beat.
Vista Ostuni is a 28-room five-star hotel inside the restored Manifattura Tabacchi — a 14th-century building that spent centuries as a convent, hospital, school for girls, and tobacco factory before sitting abandoned for nearly 60 years. Architect Roberto Murgia of Milan's RMA Studio preserved over 6,000 square meters of historic interiors: thick stone walls, lofty vaulted ceilings, and a cloister now flooded with light through a glass ceiling. Rooms range from 36 sqm Deluxe rooms up to 75 sqm duplex suites, dressed in mid-century Italian furniture, Venetian plaster walls, and rattan details. The dining is led by Michelin-starred chef Andrea Berton, with three pools, a 350 sqm Biologique Recherche spa, and a panoramic rooftop bar completing the picture.
