April through June gives you the neighborhood at its best — gallery openings happen weekly, café terraces fill up by 11am, and you can actually walk the narrow streets without shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. September and October bring Fashion Week energy twice, when buyers and editors descend on the concept stores along Rue de Poitou. Winter isn't terrible, but many galleries close for January renovations, and the charm of wandering medieval streets diminishes when it's 2°C and drizzling. July and August see half the locals flee for vacation, leaving you with more tourist-focused businesses and fewer of those spontaneous encounters that make the Marais special. Sunday mornings year-round are magic — the market bustles, families stroll, and you get the neighborhood at its most authentically Parisian.
