September and October bring that golden Paris light photographers obsess over. Fewer crowds than summer, perfect walking weather, and restaurant terraces still buzzing with life. Summer brings the crowds but also the longest days. The Eiffel Tower sparkles until nearly midnight, and Seine-side picnics stretch late into the evening. Just prepare for lines and higher prices. Winter has its charm if you don't mind the cold. Christmas markets pop up around Invalides, and the Eiffel Tower's winter illumination schedule starts earlier. Hotel rates drop significantly after New Year. Avoid the first week of August when half the neighborhood shuts down for vacation. Many restaurants close, and you'll find yourself eating tourist food by default.
