Alaska Panhandle in February
Not the best time
February isn't ideal for Alaska Panhandle. Consider a different month.
All Months
May through September gives you the best weather and longest days, but each month brings trade-offs. May means fewer crowds and lower prices, but some tour operators haven't opened yet and you might hit rain. June and July deliver peak conditions - 17+ hours of daylight, wildflowers in bloom, and every activity running. But cruise ships pack the towns and accommodation prices spike. August brings berry season and the start of salmon runs, plus you can still count on decent weather. September offers the best value - cruise season winds down, hotel rates drop, and the fall colors start showing. Winter here isn't like Interior Alaska, but it's still dark and wet. Temperatures hover around 35-45°F from November through March, with constant drizzle. Some years bring snow to sea level, other years just endless gray skies. Look, unless you're chasing the Northern Lights or winter solitude, stick to the May-September window.
