Amalfi Drive in February
Not the best time
February isn't ideal for Amalfi Drive. Consider a different month.
All Months
April through June and September through October offer the sweet spot—mild weather, manageable crowds, and restaurants actually open. July and August turn the coast into a traffic-jammed nightmare. I've spent three hours crawling from Positano to Amalfi in peak summer.
Early morning drives (before 9am) or evening runs (after 6pm) avoid the worst congestion. Spring brings wildflowers and perfect temperatures around 22°C. Fall offers harvest season in the lemon groves and fewer tour buses clogging the road.
Winter driving requires caution—the road stays open but fog rolls in quickly, and some restaurants close from November through March. Rain makes the already-narrow road treacherous. Check weather forecasts obsessively and have backup indoor plans for Ravello or Amalfi town.
