Annapurna Conservation Area in July

Not the best time

July isn't ideal for Annapurna Conservation Area. Consider a different month.

All Months

October through December delivers the clearest mountain views and most stable weather. The monsoon has washed the air clean, temperatures hover in that perfect sweet spot, and rhododendrons start blooming at lower elevations. But everyone knows this, so expect crowds on popular routes like ABC and the Circuit. March through May offers warmer temperatures and the full rhododendron show. The forests explode in pink and red blooms, especially around Ghorepani and the lower sections of ABC trek. Afternoon clouds often obscure peak views, but mornings stay crystal clear. This is peak season number two, so book tea house beds in advance. Winter trekking (January-February) separates the hardcore from the casual hikers. Thorong La Pass often closes due to snow, and temperatures at ABC can hit -25°C. But you'll have the trails mostly to yourself, and the mountain views are absolutely pristine. Just make sure your gear can handle serious cold. Monsoon season (June-September) gets written off by most guidebooks, but it shouldn't be completely dismissed. The lower elevations turn jungle-green, waterfalls appear everywhere, and you'll meet almost no other trekkers. The downside: leeches, muddy trails, and clouds that hide the peaks for days. Upper Mustang actually works well during monsoon since it sits in a rain shadow.
