Antarctic summer runs November through March, and timing changes everything. November brings courting penguins and 20 hours of daylight, but also unpredictable weather and more sea ice. December through January offers the warmest temperatures (around 32°F), perfect for camping and longer shore excursions. February delivers peak wildlife viewing—penguin chicks are active, and whales migrate through the peninsula in huge numbers. March brings incredible light for photography as the sun sits lower, but some areas become inaccessible as ice begins forming. Here's the trade-off: early season means fresher snow and dramatic landscapes, but late season offers better weather and more wildlife activity. Most first-timers should aim for January or February when conditions are most stable and wildlife viewing peaks.
