Baja California in August
Not the best time
August isn't ideal for Baja California. Consider a different month.
All Months
October through April gives you perfect weather - warm days, cool nights, and minimal rain. December and January are peak season, especially around holidays when Mexican families vacation here. Book accommodations early. March brings whale watching season to its peak. Gray whales calve in the lagoons near San Ignacio and Guerrero Negro, and you can get close enough to touch them. But here's the insider tip: November and April offer the best combination of good weather and fewer crowds. May through September turns brutally hot inland, though coastal areas stay bearable. Summer also brings chubascos - sudden, violent thunderstorms that can flood roads and strand travelers. If you must visit in summer, stick to the coast and plan indoor activities for midday. Winter nights require layers, especially in the mountains. Pack for 40-degree temperature swings between day and night.
