Calgary in February
Not the best time
February isn't ideal for Calgary. Consider a different month.
All Months
Summer in Calgary means festival season. The Calgary Stampede in July brings 10 days of rodeo action, pancake breakfasts, and country music. Hotel rates triple during Stampede week, so book early or stay outside the city.
September delivers perfect weather - warm days, cool nights, and golden aspens in the nearby mountains. This is peak hiking season in Banff and Jasper. Plus, summer crowds have thinned out but most attractions stay open.
Winter transforms Calgary into a winter sports playground. Canada Olympic Park offers skiing just 15 minutes from downtown, and WinSport's tube park entertains families for hours. But temperatures drop to -30°C in January, so pack serious winter gear.
Spring arrives late - don't expect consistent warmth until May. But April brings cheaper hotel rates and you can still hit the ski slopes while planning summer hiking trips. The shoulder season means shorter lines at popular restaurants too.
