April through June gives you the best weather without summer crowds. The Naval Academy graduation in late May brings chaos to Annapolis – book early or avoid entirely. The weather stays warm enough for outdoor activities but cool enough that walking around Frederick or Annapolis feels comfortable. Winter can be harsh – snowstorms shut down I-95 and make battlefield visits miserable. But December in Annapolis has its charm with holiday decorations around the State Circle. Summer brings humidity that makes you question life choices, plus every family with kids descends on places like Historic Savage Mill. July and August see temperatures hit the 90s regularly, and the Chesapeake Bay humidity makes it feel worse.
