Central New Mexico in July

Good time to visit

July is a reasonable time to visit Central New Mexico.

All Months

April through June gives you perfect weather — 70s during the day, 40s at night, and no monsoon rains yet. September and October deliver the same comfortable temperatures plus golden aspen leaves in the mountains. Summer hits 90+ degrees but the high desert's low humidity makes it bearable, and afternoon thunderstorms cool things down dramatically. Winter brings snow to the mountains and occasional storms to the valleys, but sunny days still hit 50 degrees. Here's the thing: Santa Fe Opera runs July through August, which means higher hotel prices but incredible performances under the stars. Balloon Fiesta in early October transforms Albuquerque into the world's hot air balloon capital, but book accommodations months ahead. Avoid late March when spring winds can hit 50+ mph and make outdoor activities miserable.
