Chitwan Region in February
Great time to visit
February is one of the best months to visit Chitwan Region.
All Months
October through April is prime time, when temperatures hover between 15-25°C and rainfall is minimal. December and January can get surprisingly cool at night — pack a fleece. The absolute best months are February and March when visibility is excellent and animals congregate around water sources. April gets hot but offers incredible wildlife viewing as animals seek shade and water. Avoid May through September unless you enjoy 35°C heat and daily monsoon downpours. The park actually closes some areas during peak monsoon season due to flooding. But here's a local secret — late September can be fantastic if you don't mind some humidity. The monsoon is ending, everything is lush and green, and you'll have the place mostly to yourself. Just be prepared for muddy trails and the occasional afternoon thunderstorm.
