July can get crowded — locals escape to their summer houses, but tourists flood in. August hits the sweet spot: warm weather, fewer crowds, and the light stays golden until 9 PM. September brings crisp air and changing leaves along the ramparts. Winter has its charm — fewer tourists, cozy café culture, and Christmas markets — but many outdoor activities shut down. The houseboats look romantic covered in snow, but you'll spend most of your time indoors.
