Coastal Georgia in July
Not the best time
July isn't ideal for Coastal Georgia. Consider a different month.
All Months
Spring and fall own Coastal Georgia. March through May brings azalea blooms and comfortable temperatures in the 70s. The Savannah Music Festival in late March draws world-class performers to intimate venues throughout the Historic District. Fall runs September through November with perfect weather for walking tours and beach days. October's particularly sweet - summer crowds disappear but the ocean stays warm enough for swimming. Summer? It's rough. July and August hit 95 degrees with humidity that makes the air feel like soup. But if you can handle the heat, hotel rates drop and you'll have Jekyll Island's beaches mostly to yourself. Winter stays mild compared to the rest of the country, but many island restaurants close and the ocean's too cold for most people. December through February sees highs in the 60s - perfect for exploring Savannah's squares without sweating through your shirt.
