The Coffee Triangle enjoys spring-like weather year-round, but timing affects your experience. December through February brings dry season – perfect for hiking Valle de Cocora and visiting outdoor farms. Expect sunny mornings with afternoon clouds. This is peak tourist season, so book accommodations early and expect crowds in Salento. June through August offers another dry window. Coffee harvest happens twice yearly: the main harvest from September to December, and a smaller mitaca harvest from April to June. Visiting during harvest means seeing the full process – picking, pulping, fermenting, drying. But some farms get too busy for tours. March through May and September through November bring more rain. Mornings often start clear before afternoon downpours. Pack layers regardless of season – temperatures range from 18-24°C (64-75°F) during the day but drop to 12-15°C (54-59°F) at night. Higher elevations like Manizales stay cooler. Rain gear helps year-round since mountain weather changes quickly.
