Costa del Sol in October

Great time to visit

October is one of the best months to visit Costa del Sol.

All Months

April through October gives you the best weather, but each month brings its own personality. April and May are perfect – warm enough for beach days, cool enough for hiking, and the crowds haven't arrived yet. Hotel prices stay reasonable, and you can actually get a table at decent restaurants without booking weeks ahead. Summer (June-August) is peak season for a reason. Temperatures hit 30°C regularly, the sea warms to perfect swimming temperature, and every beach club, festival, and rooftop bar operates at full capacity. But it's also when prices double, traffic becomes unbearable, and finding a quiet beach spot requires military-level planning. September and October might be the sweet spot. The sea stays warm from summer heating, crowds thin out after kids go back to school, and you get that golden autumn light that photographers love. Restaurant terraces reopen after closing during the hottest summer months. Winter isn't written off either. Sure, you won't be swimming, but temperatures still hit 18°C on good days. It's perfect for exploring inland towns, playing golf without melting, and enjoying the Costa del Sol's other side beyond the beaches. Plus, hotel rates drop to almost silly levels.
