Dry season runs December through April — perfect weather but higher prices and crowds. January through March offers the best balance of sunshine and availability. Green season (May-November) brings afternoon rains, lush landscapes, and 30% savings on hotels. But some roads become impassable, and Caribbean coast gets hammered in September-October. December through February is peak season — book accommodations months ahead. March and April get hot and dusty before the rains return. Wildlife viewing peaks during dry season when animals gather at water sources. Turtle nesting happens year-round on different beaches, but Tortuguero's green turtles arrive July-October.
