Daintree Rainforest in April

Great time to visit

April is one of the best months to visit Daintree Rainforest.

All Months

April through September offers the sweet spot — less rain, fewer cyclones, and manageable humidity. May and June are perfect: daily highs around 26°C, minimal rainfall, and the stinger season hasn't started yet. But here's the thing about seasons in the Daintree: it's either wet or less wet. Even during the 'dry' season, expect afternoon showers. The forest needs that moisture to stay lush and green. Avoid January through March unless you enjoy 35°C heat with 90% humidity and daily thunderstorms. Cyclone season runs December to April, and roads can close for days after heavy rain. Plus, box jellyfish patrol the beaches from October to May. Wildlife viewing peaks in the cooler months when animals are more active. Cassowaries venture out more frequently, and the famous Ulysses butterflies are easier to spot when they're not hiding from the heat. Early morning and late afternoon offer the best animal encounters year-round.
