Dalmatian Coast in April
Great time to visit
April is one of the best months to visit Dalmatian Coast.
All Months
July and August bring perfect weather and impossible crowds. Dubrovnik's old town becomes a human traffic jam. Ferry queues stretch for hours. Hotel prices triple. But the weather is flawless - 28°C days, warm sea temperatures, and virtually no rain.
June and September offer the sweet spot. Weather stays warm enough for swimming but crowds thin considerably. Restaurant reservations become possible again. Ferry schedules still run frequently. September particularly shines with harvest season bringing wine festivals and cooler hiking weather.
May and October work for culture vultures who don't mind cooler water. Temperatures hover around 20°C, perfect for walking city walls and exploring ruins. Many island restaurants and hotels close by November, limiting options.
Winter transforms the coast completely. Dubrovnik's walls take on a moody beauty without summer crowds. Split's palace feels more authentically Roman. But ferry schedules reduce dramatically, and many tourist services shut down entirely.
Shoulder seasons mean variable weather. Pack layers and waterproof gear. But you'll have major sites largely to yourself, and locals have time for actual conversations instead of rushed transactions.
