Distillery District in April
Great time to visit
April is one of the best months to visit Distillery District.
All Months
Late spring through early fall works best. Those cobblestones turn into ice rinks from November through March, and half the patios close.
May brings the first warm days when you can actually enjoy walking around. The trees leaf out, the patios open, and you're not dodging puddles of melted snow. Weekdays in May feel almost empty — you'll have the galleries to yourself.
Summer weekends turn into tourist zoos. July and August bring crowds that make Trinity Street feel like a theme park. But the evening light hits those red brick buildings perfectly around 7 PM, and the patios stay open until midnight.
September might be perfect. The crowds thin out, temperatures stay comfortable, and the heritage buildings look stunning against autumn leaves. Plus, the Toronto International Film Festival brings extra energy to the whole area.
Winter has its moments if you can handle the cold. The Christmas Market in November and December transforms the District into something from a Dickens novel. Hot mulled wine helps with the frozen cobblestones.
