Doi Inthanon in March
Good time to visit
March is a reasonable time to visit Doi Inthanon.
All Months
November through February is peak season for good reason. Daytime temperatures sit around 15-20°C, perfect for hiking without overheating. Clear skies mean better mountain views, and the rhododendrons bloom in December and January.
But here's the trade-off: everyone else knows this too. Weekend mornings in December can feel like a Bangkok traffic jam, especially at the summit pagodas.
March through May brings warmer weather and fewer crowds, but visibility drops due to burning season haze. The waterfalls also run lower after months without rain.
Rainy season (June-October) transforms the park into a lush, misty wonderland. Waterfalls thunder at full force, and the cloud forests live up to their name. Just expect muddy trails and afternoon downpours. Some higher elevation trails may close during heavy rains.
For photographers, early morning visits any time of year offer the best light and clearest air.
