Summer temperatures regularly hit 45°C (113°F), and even locals retreat indoors during midday hours. The few hardy souls who visit in summer start activities at 5 AM and finish by 10 AM. Ramadan presents unique challenges and opportunities. Many restaurants close during daylight hours, but the evening iftar meals become community celebrations. Desert camps often offer special Ramadan packages with traditional breaking-of-fast ceremonies. The almond blossoms in February transform the Dadès and Todra valleys into pink-and-white wonderlands. But this brief season draws tour buses from Marrakech, so book accommodations well in advance.
