Dupont Circle in September

Spring hits different in Dupont Circle. Cherry blossoms bloom along the residential streets in early April, but without the National Mall crowds. The farmers market returns to 20th and Q Streets every Sunday morning — grab coffee and pastries from local vendors. Fall might be even better. September through November brings perfect walking weather and the return of outdoor dining. Embassy open houses happen in May during Around the World Embassy Tour — peek inside normally closed diplomatic buildings. But avoid summer if you can. July and August turn the circle into a swamp. The concrete absorbs heat all day and radiates it back at night. Even the chess players seek shade.
