Summer (June-August) brings midnight sun and hiking weather. Temperatures hit 20-25°C in the south, perfect for lake swimming and sauna sessions. This is peak season, so book accommodations early. Winter (December-February) is Northern Lights time. Lapland gets proper snow, dog sledding, and those glass igloo experiences. Helsinki stays around freezing with shorter days, but Christmas markets and cozy cafés make up for the darkness. Shoulder seasons disappoint. March-May is muddy and unpredictable. September-November brings beautiful autumn colors but also rain and early darkness. For Northern Lights, visit between September and March. Peak viewing is December-February when nights are longest. Clear, cold nights work best – check aurora forecasts and head north of the Arctic Circle for your best shot.
