Freycinet National Park in July
Not the best time
July isn't ideal for Freycinet National Park. Consider a different month.
All Months
December through April offers the warmest weather and longest days, but also the biggest crowds and highest accommodation prices. January sees average temperatures around 20°C (68°F), perfect for combining hiking with beach time. But here's the thing – shoulder seasons are where Freycinet really shines. March and April deliver warm days with fewer people, plus you might catch the aurora australis on clear nights. Winter (June-August) brings moody skies and dramatic light, though expect temperatures around 12°C (54°F) and pack serious rain gear. The granite peaks look spectacular dusted with snow, which happens maybe once or twice a year. Spring (September-November) can be unpredictable – one day you're hiking in shorts, the next you're battling 60km/h winds. Early morning visits any time of year reward you with better light and fewer crowds. Sunrise from the Wineglass Bay lookout is worth the 5:30am alarm, trust me.
