Full Moon Party happens monthly, obviously, but timing matters. December through April offers the best weather - less rain, cooler temperatures, and calmer seas for the boat ride over. January and February are peak season. The parties are massive but so are the crowds and prices. March hits the sweet spot - still dry but slightly less insane. Avoid September and October unless you enjoy dancing in tropical downpours. The party goes on rain or shine, but trudging through mud in flip-flops isn't anyone's idea of fun. Arrive 2-3 days early to acclimatize and secure accommodation. The island transforms in the days leading up to Full Moon - suddenly every restaurant has a DJ, and the energy builds like a pressure cooker. Leave the day after if you value your liver. Half Moon Party happens two weeks later at Eden Garden - smaller, more intimate, and easier on your wallet.
