Winter has its charms - the Christmas market transforms Grand Place into a medieval wonderland from late November through early January. But Brussels weather turns gray and drizzly from October through March, and those Gothic buildings can feel imposing under cloudy skies. Spring (April-May) offers mild weather and fewer tourists, though you'll need layers for unpredictable Belgian weather. The surrounding cafes start setting up outdoor seating, and locals emerge from their winter hibernation.
