May through September offers the best weather, with temperatures hitting 20-25°C and minimal rain. July and August see the biggest crowds — the Public Market becomes shoulder-to-shoulder chaos on weekend afternoons. But summer also brings outdoor theater performances at the Arts Club and buskers performing along the waterfront. September hits the sweet spot: warm weather, fewer crowds, and harvest season at the market means peak local produce. Winter isn't terrible — the island stays active year-round — but expect rain and shorter daylight hours. The Christmas market in December draws locals for holiday shopping. Avoid visiting on Canada Day (July 1st) unless you enjoy fighting through massive crowds for overpriced beaver tails.
