Good time to visit

November is a reasonable time to visit Greater Boston.

All Months

Fall brings perfect weather and foliage that makes every Instagram photo look professional. September through October offers crisp air, comfortable walking temperatures, and trees that explode in reds and golds. But everyone else knows this too—expect crowds and higher hotel prices. Late spring hits the sweet spot between winter's end and summer's tourist invasion. May and June deliver mild temperatures perfect for walking the Freedom Trail without sweating through your shirt. The Public Garden blooms beautifully, and outdoor dining season kicks into gear. Summer means festival season and outdoor concerts on the Esplanade, but also humidity that makes you question your life choices. July Fourth brings massive crowds for the Boston Pops concert and fireworks, plus hotel prices that'll make you weep. Winter separates the locals from the visitors. January and February can be brutal, but you'll have museums mostly to yourself and restaurant reservations become possible again. Plus there's something magical about snow covering the Common, even if your toes go numb after ten minutes outside.
