Dry season runs May through September, with June through August being peak hiking weather. July gets crowded and expensive — book accommodation early. May and September offer better deals with mostly clear skies, though you might catch some rain. The wet season from October to April means muddy trails, cloud-covered peaks, and some treks become impossible. But accommodation prices drop significantly, and you'll have the town mostly to yourself. December through March brings daily afternoon showers that can last hours. If you're only here for a few days and want guaranteed mountain views, stick to the dry season. The shoulder months of May and September give you the best balance of good weather and reasonable prices.
