Hungary in June
Great time to visit
June is one of the best months to visit Hungary.
All Months
April through October is Hungary's sweet spot. Spring arrives early - by April, sidewalk cafes reopen and the Danube sparkles. May is perfect: warm days, cool evenings, and everything blooms without the summer crowds. The thermal baths feel especially good when there's still a chill in the air.
Summer means festival season. Sziget Festival in August transforms Óbuda Island into a music wonderland, while Lake Balaton becomes Hungary's Riviera. Expect 30°C days and warm nights perfect for ruin bar hopping. But Budapest gets crowded - book accommodations early and expect higher prices.
Autumn might be Hungary's best-kept secret. September and October bring harvest season to wine regions, with comfortable temperatures and fewer tourists. The thermal baths at Széchenyi feel magical when surrounded by golden leaves. November can be gray and drizzly, but indoor attractions like the thermal baths and museums shine.
Winter has its charm if you don't mind the cold. Christmas markets fill Vörösmarty Square, and soaking in outdoor thermal pools while snow falls is surreal. Just pack layers - January temperatures hover around freezing.
