October through March gives you the best weather across most of India. December and January bring perfect temperatures but also peak crowds and prices. The monsoon from June to September turns everything green but makes travel messy. Kerala actually looks amazing during monsoon season – just pack waterproof everything. April and May test your heat tolerance. Plains hit 45°C while hill stations like Shimla and Darjeeling offer relief. This is when smart travelers head to Ladakh or the Himalayas. Festival season runs October to March. Diwali in November lights up the country but books out accommodation. Holi in March covers everyone in colored powder and joy. Summer works if you stick to the mountains or splurge on AC everywhere. Goa empties out May through September – great for cheap stays but terrible for beach weather.
