Indonesia in August
Great time to visit
August is one of the best months to visit Indonesia.
All Months
April through October gives you the dry season, when temple-hopping doesn't involve dodging downpours and boat trips to Komodo actually happen on schedule. July and August bring crowds and higher prices, especially in Bali where Australian families descend en masse.
May and September hit the sweet spot — good weather without peak season chaos. The rice terraces in Bali turn emerald green after the rains, and you can actually get photos at Borobudur without fighting tour groups.
Rainy season (November through March) isn't a total washout. The storms usually hit in late afternoon, leaving mornings clear for sightseeing. Plus, everything costs less and feels more authentic when you're not competing with cruise ship passengers.
Ramadan affects the experience significantly. Many warungs close during daylight hours, but the evening markets after sunset offer incredible food experiences. Just be respectful about eating and drinking publicly during fasting hours.
