May through September gives you the full Indre By experience. Summer means 18-hour daylight, outdoor café culture, and canal tours running constantly. But it also means cruise ship crowds that turn Nyhavn into a human traffic jam by 11 AM. July is the worst for this — avoid if you hate crowds. June hits the sweet spot: warm weather, fewer tourists than peak summer, and everything's open. September brings cooler temps but gorgeous light for photos, plus locals return from vacation so the neighborhood feels authentic again. Winter has its own magic — Christmas markets fill Kongens Nytorv and Højbro Plads, while the early darkness makes the lit-up palaces look even more dramatic.
