Kashmir in March

Not the best time

March isn't ideal for Kashmir. Consider a different month.

All Months

April through June offers Kashmir at its most accessible, with temperatures ranging 15-30°C and all roads open. This is peak season though — expect crowds at Dal Lake and higher prices for houseboats. May brings apple blossoms that turn entire valleys white, while June offers perfect hiking weather in Sonamarg and Gulmarg. September and October deliver Kashmir's secret season: crisp air, golden chinar leaves, and fewer tourists. October temperatures drop to 5-20°C, perfect for long walks through Mughal gardens. Winter transforms Kashmir into a different destination entirely. December through February brings heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures, but also incredible skiing in Gulmarg and cozy houseboat evenings with kangris (traditional fire pots). July and August mean monsoon season — not ideal for Kashmir since rain can trigger landslides on mountain roads. The shoulder months of March and November can be unpredictable: you might hit perfect weather or get caught in unexpected snowfall.
