May through September gives you the best of Katajanokka. The Art Nouveau details really pop when trees are in bloom, and you can actually enjoy walking the waterfront without freezing. July brings cruise ship season — the neighborhood transforms into a bustling port with thousands of visitors daily. Great for people-watching, less great if you want intimate photos of the architecture. June offers the best balance: long days, fewer crowds, and restaurant terraces in full swing. Winter visits work if you're staying somewhere warm and don't mind short days. The snow does make those granite buildings look even more dramatic, but outdoor exploring becomes limited. Most harbor-facing restaurants close their terraces by October.
