Kauai in November
Not the best time
November isn't ideal for Kauai. Consider a different month.
All Months
Kauai's weather runs on two seasons: perfect and slightly less perfect. Summer (April through October) brings calmer seas, better snorkeling, and access to north shore beaches. This is peak season for good reason — you can actually get in the water at places like Tunnels Beach without getting pummeled by waves.
Winter means bigger swells, which close many north shore beaches but create epic surf. The south shore stays swimmable year-round, and hotel rates drop noticeably from November through March. Just pack a rain jacket — winter brings more frequent showers, especially on the north and east sides.
Avoid the last two weeks of December and first week of January unless you enjoy paying triple rates and fighting crowds at every trailhead. Spring break (March-April) also gets crazy busy.
The sweet spot? Late April through May, or September through early November. You get summer weather without peak season crowds and prices.
