August is one of the best months to visit Kaunas.

May through September gives you the best weather and longest days – sunset hits after 9pm in summer. July brings the Pažaislis Music Festival to the baroque monastery, but also peak crowds and €20 higher hotel rates. September offers perfect temperatures for walking and fewer tourists clogging the castle. Winter means short days and bitter cold, but also Christmas markets in Town Hall Square and cozy pub sessions. Spring arrives late – April still feels like winter, but May explodes with green parks and outdoor cafe season. Book summer accommodation by March or pay premium prices.
